New Music from the Night Owl Sessions

In late 2010, Alex recorded studio tracks of some of his earliest material with Robert LeBlanc of Night Owl Productions. Tracks for all of the songs were not fully completed and mastered, and they were never released. As Alex begins thinking seriously about an EP or CD release, we've gone back and listened to some of the recordings he did with Robert, in what he calls The Night Owl Sessions.

Both in style and voice (and hair length!), Alex has changed significantly since 2010 and anything recorded today will definitely sound different. When he recorded these songs, he was just out of high school. But he had written some of the songs years earlier, when he was more full of teenaged angst and, in some cases, anger. You can hear it in the lyrics.

We've uploaded one of these songs for you to take a listen. Bring You Down is clearly an angry song and, apparently, has resonated with many people. The demo version has been on this site for several years and has more plays than any song posted so far.

I think you'll agree, the additional instrumentation compliments the acoustic tracks nicely and fits the song well. Give it a listen, and tell us what you think by leaving a comment.

Hey, all you aspiring singer/songwriters!  I'll be turning over the mic to any and all takers Wednesday night as I host open mic night at Bar Local...  Come on, you know you've always wanted to get up and sing that song you wrote!  How's your chance!  I'll sing a few myself, to get you warmed up.  Come on out!

Orange Music Fest CANCELLED!

Bummer...  We were looking forward to this, but no one can control the weather!  The City of Orange plans to re-schedule in spring 2016 and Alex will still be there if we can make the schedule work.  Stay tuned!

Saturday Show Change!

Hi, folks! So, I've got good news and bad news. First, the bad news.

Saturday's show at Vine2Wine has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. We're working on another date I can get back out to play and I'll keep you posted as soon as we nail one down.

Meanwhile, if you were planning to make the trip to Winnie to see me this Saturday, please keep your plans! Vine2Wine is the coolest venue I've played in a long time and you'll love the place! The atmosphere can't be beat and the owners/hosts are some of the greatest in the area. It would be a great place to enjoy some early refreshments and relaxation before you launch off to the Winnie Rice Festival. I'm just sad that I won't be able to join you.



Now, for the good news. I'll now be entertaining my friends across the river this Saturday at Daiquiri Station in Leesville, LA. I always enjoy my time in Leesville, hanging with my Louisiana padres and entertaining some of our nation's bravest warriors from Fort Polk. If you're in the area Saturday, stop by for a good time! If you're not, get there!!

New Show - New Venue!

Hey Guys! Alex just added a new show at the Texas Rose Saloon this Saturday, August 15th. It's Alex's first time to play at this venue and will be a song swap with Tyler Darby.

The place looks pretty darn cool! It's got a local dive bar vibe and has been getting great reviews lately on social media. Come check it out!

It's +18, unless you're with a parent/guardian.  $5 cover starting at 8:00pm.

A Busy Start to Summer

Hey everyone! Alex's summer is off to a busy start with 17 show dates so far for June and July. The team is also working to fill a few remaining open dates with some new venues too, so stay tuned for additional show dates to be announced!

Madison's on Dowlen - Alex with Jared Jones

Thanks to everyone for coming out this past Tuesday to support Alex and the good folks at Madison's. The rare "duet" show was a real treat for us and, if the room's reaction was any clue, it was a big hit! Expect to see more of this is the future!

What's happening now? Alex is playing a traditional acoustic solo set at Bayou Cafe # 2, in Port Arthur! RIGHT NOW! We're on our way!  Hope to see you there!

Madison's on Dowlen with Special Guest Jared Jones

Okay, folks! It's official! Alex will be playing Madison's on Dowlen on Tuesday, August 12th with his friend and special guest Jared Jones from Bayou City Outlaws Band fame! Alex is pumped! "Aside from some private jam sessions at the firehouse, I haven't played with Jared since The LogOn Cafe back somewhere in 2009, so I'm really excited about getting to play together again".

This is a show you don't want to miss! Come on out and enjoy good food and drinks served up by some of the finest wait staff in the area. They'll be jammin' on the patio from 08:30pm-10:30pm.

Happy Mother's Day!

Today is Mother's Day and I'm playing host to my two favorite Mom's today at Otis & Henry's! I'm playing my usual monthly brunch show, which is always a fun crowd. Come out and join us, if you want to give YOUR mom a treat! The food is great and I promise to try and make the music a highlight of her day.

So, let me give a shout out to those two moms that are here today! First to my own mother, who shaped and molded me into the person I am today, despite all of my resistance! She's also my biggest fan, always encouraging me and still, unwaveringly convinced I can be a star! I love you, Mom!

And to my beautiful wife, Maddie, who is the most incredible mom to our son, Liam. We are blessed that God sent you to us and I am grateful for how full you have made both of our lives. From your two boys, we send a heartfelt: We love you, Mommy!

Beaux Jangles!

What a great turn out Thursday night! Beaux Jangles is now added to my list of favorite venues to play! Great atmosphere, great steaks, cool people and cold beer; an awesome combo! I definitely will be returning to play if given the chance, and all you guys who missed it will have to come out next time!

Don't forget to come visit Tradewinds Tavern in the MCM Elegante every Tuesday night this month! I'll be entertaining one of the coolest bars in Beaumont from 6-10 every Tuesday through June.

Last but not least, back because of demand, I"ll be performing with Carl Richardson again on Thursday, June 21 from 8-10. This is a show you do not want to miss! Hope to see as many friends out there as possible!

L'Auberge Last Night!

What a blast! Thanks to all the Louisiana friends that made it out! (And a couple Texans too!) I think everyone would agree it was definitely worth the drive!

Thanks to Chris Harper for putting on such a great show! We played wonderfully together and if you weren't there to catch it, you really missed out! Call up your favorite venue and request us!

With the cold drinks, the pool atmosphere, and the great food the music was not the only perk. Make sure you make it out to hear us next time! We had a blast. (Not to mention got to see and speak to Josh Ledet from American Idol)!

It was a great time and I hope to see you all there next time I make it out!
